SBM Training Session #2 - School Finance

Twynham Learning's core services offers continuous training and support for key staff groups including site staff, business managers, finance staff, IT staff, admin staff plus the governance and risk management staff team.

TRI will offer the following seminars/workshops over the course of AY22/23, which will focus not just on "best practice", but also "our practice" in terms of what we do as an organisation committed to excellence in all that we do. The outline of our programme is shown in the table below with some sessions taking place during the school day and some sessions outside of the school day, depending on both the length of the session and the roles of colleagues due to attend.

This event will explore the implications for teaching and learning arising from the analysis of the 2022 end of Y2 results. It will provide practical advice and strategies for teaching the KS1 curriculum and in preparing the children effectively for successful performance in Mathematics, Reading, English Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation at the end of Year 2.

Expected outcomes for delegates: -

- Increased participant awareness and understanding of the format of the 2022 end of Key Stage 1 tests.
- Increased knowledge of strategies to promote successful pupil performance at the end of Year 2.
- Ideas and advice for teaching the more challenging aspects of the Mathematics and English curriculum.

Admissions Appeals Training 1We are very pleased to welcome Richard Feeth, Partner at Browne Jacobson Solicitors, to deliver a virtual seminar informing colleagues of the current requirements of the School Admissions Code 2021 and the Admission Appeals Code 2012 (soon to be 2022).

Richard will provide training on the key issues for senior leaders in terms of the admissions process and “do’s and don’ts” regarding admissions law and practice as well as providing an overview of the appeals process, decision making and how best to “protect” the school within the appeals process.

  • Examine the 5 key areas of focus that make up high quality Primary Physical Education provision.
  • Shape and organise your role as a subject leader, breaking each of the 5 key areas down.
  • Organise your start point and look at ways of using baseline information to inform your subject leader actions.

Part 2:

Leadership in Physical Education:

  • Creating a vision.
  • Unpicking the role and streamlining actions linked to the 5 KIs, including:

              A - Leading by example and driving a HQPE curriculum

              B - Creating a physical activity culture

              C - Connecting to whole school agendas

Youth Sport Trust Healthy Movers for EYFS/KS1

Healthy Movers is a one day course for reception teachers and early years practitioners in pre-school settings that focuses on how to develop the whole child through engaging, purposeful physical activities in the early years supporting the EYFS framework. It is also suitable for KS1 teachers and adults other than teachers who are looking to extend their practice. It will provide theory and practical ideas using the Youth Sport Trust Healthy Movers resource alongside the Healthy Movers at Home resource which is a set of games and activities to get children moving at home. The activities are designed to develop balance, movement and using objects in a fun and engaging way.

Primary TA/HLTA Training Day – Supporting Primary PE And School Sport in Key Stages 1 & 2

Course / workshop information

This HLTA training day has been designed to allow staff to feel more confident when assisting with Physical Education (PE) lessons. Throughout the day there will be advice on how to raise attainment and fulfil the potential of all children and young people through PE. These are the key outcomes:

•   To have an overview and understanding of the National Curriculum for PE

•   To know what pupil progress looks like in PE

•   To understand the importance of physical literacy and fundamental movement skills

•   To be familiar with key skills/progressions in Gymnastics and Dance

•   To gain an overview of Games and Athletics
